Sephora by OPI’s Spring 2009 polishes are HOT! Warmer weather means an influx of brights for fingers and toes, and Sephora has certainly hit the mark with these gorgeously vibrant yet creamy hues–just looking at these polishes uplifts my spirits and brings thoughts of warmer, happier weather.

SENSAI COLORS Collection by Kanebo

February 11, 2009

Sensai hasn’t released a new color collection in the longest time, so I was ridiculously excited to learn about the launch of their SENSAI COLORS Collection, a new treatment makeup line consisting of 22 items for eyes, lips and cheeks. Designed in conjunction with famed makeup artist Hisano Komine, SENSAI COLORS feature Kanebo-exclusive Koishimaru Slk Extract and other skincare innovations such as Auto-Coating Gel, a soft gel that moisturizes the skin when you breathe, Layered Amino Pigments, Smoth Pearl Powder, and a bunch of other great components!

FOR LIPS: For the lips Kanebo has a fabulous-sounding lip base ($15) which blurs any imperfections/fine lines/etc while also providing SPF 15. But the products I’m really interested in are the Lasting Treatment Rouge ($40) and the Deep Moist Shine Rouge ($40). The Lasting Treatment Rouge claims to last for hours and contains Auto Coating Gel which purportedly provides moisture by your breathing on it! As for the Deep Moist Shine Rouges, I’m wondering if these will be comparable to the new Sisley Phyto lipsticks.

FOR EYES: I’ve been on the hunt for a great eyeshadow primer since great-lasting power is no longer the only thing I’m looking for. As I get older I worry about wrinkle formation, so I’d love to find a primer that’s both great at priming and also contains anti-aging properties–cue Kanebo’s Eyelid Base ($26) which moisturizes and soothes the eye area. The Eyeshadow Palettes ($50) are also absolutely gorgeous, as I’m dying to check them out along with the Eyeliner Pencil ($28–I’m hoping this will be smudge free and silky smooth!) and the Liquid Liner ($36)–and the Eyebrow Pencil ($28). LOL so pretty much everything!

FOR CHEEKS: I’m absolutely loving the color scheme of the promo image above, and the blush for $45 is seriously beautiful and ties the entire collection together! I was so seriously impressed by Sensai’s Smoothing Water Makeup Base and their Fluid Finish Foundation (easily the best foundation I’ve ever tried) that I’m expecting great things from the rest of these products. I hope to be able to check them out soon!

I’ve been getting calls from Bergdorf all week informing me that SENSAI COLORS has now launched and that they’re offering makeovers, brow shapings and facials to celebrate!

When: February 9 – 14, 2009, 11am – 7p. Call 212.872.2537 to make an appointment!

The SENSAI COLORS Collection is available at Bergdorf Goodman and select Barney’s New York stores. For additional information, visit

Cle de Peau Le Natural Absolu Spring 2009 Collection

February 3, 2009

Eye Color Quad ($75)

Intensifying Cream Eyeliner ($60)
Saw this online on the Neiman site the other day and I’m dying to try it out!

Volume Mascara ($45)
Cle de Peau and mascara–obviously I need to try this!

Brilliant Enhancer ($62)
I’ve never tried YSL’s Touche Eclat as I’ve never been all that inclined to spend that much money on a concealer I won’t use, but I’d still love to try this. Mainly becaus eI love all things Cle de Peau.

Smoothing Base ($72)

Extra Silky Lipstick ($50)
I’m already a fan of these ultra-moisturizing glossy slim tubes of goodness–check out my review HERE. Also on my CDP wishlist are these glosses which I swatched recently.

Estee Lauder Fuchsia Now Spring Color 2009 Collection and New Time Zone

January 12, 2009

While I’m not usually all that into Estee Lauder’s seasonal color collections, I stumbled upon their latest Spring 2009 Fuchsia Now release while checking out an e-mail I’d received about their new Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Moisturizer SPF 15 (more on this below–the before and after is cool!) and the promo image really caught my eye. I loved the gorgeous compact and the contrast of what lookd to be a bright pink, lavender, browns, and neutrals, so I clicked on over to the actual product and this is what I found:

Estee Lauder Fleur de Lys Shimmer Powder ($32)

While the price isn’t all that bad, it just doesn’t look anything like the first image (at least to me), and definitely fell short of my expectations. I’ll have to see this in person to see which image is more true to life; I’m hoping the first!

As for Estee Lauder’s new Time Zone Line & Wrinkle Reducing Moisturizer, while I don’t think that I’ll be needing anything like this anytime soon (knock on wood) the before and after looked so great that I just had to post it! If anybody has tried/is trying this I’d love to hear about what kinds of results you get!

Guerlain Spring 2009 Paradis Exotique Collection Swatches and Mini-Review

January 9, 2009
Left Half: Swatches of Ombre Eclat Exotic Paradise Eyeshadow Palette
Right Half: Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss (top to bottom) in Cerise Tentation, Orange Interdite, and Pomme du Desir

I happened to see that Bergdorf Goodman had Guerlain’s new Paradis Exotique Spring 2009 Collection out (which I blogged about here) and couldn’t resist swatching for you lovely ladies! I wasn’t expecting much since I’d been a little disappointed by their Holiday 2008 Midnight Butterly release; the packaging was amazingly beautiful, but the eyeshadows were super sheer, the mascara sucked (see my review here), and the only item i really loved was the Meteorites.

Overall I’d have to say that Guerlain did much better with Spring 09!

Same swatches as above, different lighting.

Guerlain ‘Ombré Éclat Exotic Paradise’ Eyeshadow Palette

While I’m a sucker for Guerlain’s packaging, I tend to not be a huge fan of their eyeshadow palettes since they’re often not terribly pigmented can be a little on the crumbly side, and are usually pretty boring color-wise so their Ombre Eclat Exotic Paradise Eyeshadow Palette was a pleasant surprise. While the shadows, as expected, aren’t nearly as pigmented as the ones that I usually go for, I didn’t have much trouble getting the colors to show up on my hand (other than the orangey peach shade), and I love how the four shades look together. Luckily I have an ancient Revlon or Maybelline palette that contains these exact same shades =P.

Swatches: Guerlain Kiss Kiss Gloss in Pomme du Desir, Orange Interdite, and Cerise Tentation

As promised I went and checked out the green gloss–but I’ll wait to tell you about it until I’ve described the other two to you! Cerise Tentation, while a very pretty sheer strawberry pink, was just a little lacking in the shimmer/glitter department, especially next to Orange Interdite and Cerise Tentation. Orange Interdite wasn’t nearly as bright, nor as tangerine as I had expected and ended up looking like more of a bright peachy shade once swatched. And of course Pomme du Desir, the “green” gloss! While rather unusual thanks to its abundance of green and yellow shimmery bits, it’s also pretty stunning I must say. On my hand it looked more yellow than green, but once spread with the applicator it’s essentially a nearly clear gloss that gives off stunning shine–it was seriously dazzling!

Close-up of Pomme du Desir

I ended up coming home empty-handed since I’m on something of a lipgloss ban (I own waaaay too much and refuse to indulge my obsession!) but I can’t seem to stop thinking about that pretty green gloss…

Think you’ll be getting anything from Guerlain’s Spring 2009 Paradis Exotique?

Dior Lady Dior Spring 2009 Collection Photos

December 30, 2008
Lady Dior Cannage Bag ($1,800)

So it looks like Dior has finally decided to indulge both my bag and makeup obsessions in one sweet little package–this Lady Dior compact.

This is just one of those products that causes me to squeal with delight! Yes I’m sure it’s ridiculously overpriced, horribly impractical, clunky, heavy, and not the wisest purchase I could make given the state of the economy, but the heart wants what the heart wants. Check out more photos of Dior’s Spring 2009 release here–it looks like this could double as a very cute bag charm, and would be absolute perfection for those of you who own the Lady Dior bag!

(photo from this Korean blog)

The Lady Dior compact contains a lip/cheek color and a highlighter and comes in two colors families. I’m leaning towards the pinkier shade (as opposed to the red) myself but of course I need to see these in person before making any final decisions. The compact retails for 89,000 won in Korea which is the equivalent of approximately $70 dollars—ouch!!!

Also a part of Dior’s Spring 2009 release are these two 5-Color Eyeshadow Quints, one iridescent (on the left), and one not. They look to be very pretty neutrals but I can easily live without these.

Are you feeling Dior’s Spring 2009 Collection?

Guerlain Paradis Exotique Spring 2009 Collection Now Online

December 30, 2008

Finally a spring collection that really and truly embodies the spirit of all that is spring! Guerlain’s Spring 2009 Paradis Exotique Collection is comprised of vivid greens, pinks, oranges, and browns, creating the perfect spring color-scheme. And check out that green gloss! Am I the only one who’s dying to see what that looks like on?

Guerlain ‘Ombré Éclat Exotic Paradise’ Eyeshadow Palette ($58)
A garden of delights…. The famous compact designed by Herve Van Der Straeten takes on bucolic tones and bronze hues and is etched with a bird of paradise. Ombré Éclat 4 Shades introduces four radiant and pearly shades, which you can use alone or mix together.

There’s so much I like about Guerlain’s spring release, and this stunning palette is definitely at the top of my list. Everything from the etched exterior of the palette to the elegant interior calls to me. Not that I’ll necessarily be purchasing this, since at $58 it’s quite the splurge!

Guerlain ‘Kiss Kiss’ Gloss ($29)
Forbidden fruit…. Dressed in bronze, specially for spring, come three new glosses with evocative names: Orange Interdite, Cerise Tentation and Pomme du Desir. Perfect for deliciously tempting, fresh and plump lips, veiled in sheer sparkle.

While I usually hate all things orange, Orange Interdite seems to be more of a bright tangerine shade that I’m thinking I can pull off. I’m actually really into all three of these glosses, with Cerise Tentation being my top pick simply for the fact that it looks like such a bright and happy green in the tube, plus I can justify the purchase since I don’t own any green gloss.

Guerlain ‘Ombré Éclat’ Eyeshadow Primer ($34) and Guerlain ‘Ombré Éclat 1 Shade’ Single Eyeshadow ($34)
Eyeshadow Primer:
The ultimate beauty innovation. Ombré Éclat Eye Primer is composed of smoothing and priming elements, ensuring long-lasting color and a youthful look. By eliminating creases and reviving the eye in one single step, the eyelid is now exquisitely smooth and ready for makeup application.
Single Eyeshadow: Ombré Éclat 1 Shade is the largest single-eyeshadow product on the market. Intense and long-lasting colors allow for light and delicate eye makeup or a more sophisticated, dramatic effect, always with an impeccable finish. Available in many different shades to collect and match according to your mood.

A good shadow primer can work wonders: your makeup will look brighter, wear better, and last longer, all with the simple sweep of an effective primer across your lids. Guerlain’s concept of combining an eyeshadow primer and a reviving eye treatment into one product is therefore pure genius, if it works. I’ll definitely be checking this out!

What do you think of Guerlain’s Spring 2009 release?

Chanel Bohemian Fantasy Spring 2009 Swatches and Mini Review

December 23, 2008
Photo taken with my camera phone–terrible I know!

Much better!

Row 1: Glossimers in Beige Guitare and Wild Rose
Row 2: Aqualumieres in Positano (beige) and Malta (copper)
Row 3: Mystic Eyes Quad

See close-ups of the swatches below!

Chanel Glossimers in Beige Guitare and Wild Rose

With a name like Bohemanian Fantasy I was expecting something a little more whimsical from Chanel’s Spring 2009 collection, but sadly I was a little disappointed. It’s not that the collection isn’t beautiful since everything is supremely wearable and subtle, I just wanted something more springy! My favorite pieces are definitely these two glossimers in Beige Guitare and Wild Rose though. Beige Guitare is a shimmering beigey gold shade that would look stunning on its own or layered over nearly any lipstick, and Wild Rose is a soft rosey shade that gives your lips a beautiful, just pinched look with a touch of shimmer. I can easily see mself indulging in both!

Bohemian Fantasy’s Les 4 Ombres Quad in Mystic Eyes surprised me with its pigmentation since I really wasn’t expecting much from it at all. While I’m not a huge fan of the shades (a dark chocolate, pale frosty pink, silvery gray, and a lighter bronzey brown), they are all very wearable and shades you can easily pull off on a daily basis. Am I wrong in wanting something more fun for the spring though?

So one of my other faves from this collection was this absolutely stunning lip palette. Seriously I saw it and couldn’t stop oohing and aahing–I’m a sucker for a pretty palette! Sadly I didn’t bring this home with me but I’m just dying to get my hands on this Chanel Levres Signes Chanel (Satin Lip Cream) palette. I don’t even have swatches of it for you because I just didn’t have the heart to mar the perfection that is this lip compact by sticking my grubby fingers in it!

What’re your thoughts on Chanel’s spring 2009 Bohemian Fantasy?
