Yay Me!

August 14, 2009

I know it’s silly and somewhat frivolous to be excited about things like this, but I figure I deserve it after the hellish week I’ve had – this is the most excitement I’ve seen all day! So what exactly am I celebrating? Well today, for the first time since I started blogging, I have over 1,000 readers by Feedburner!

I know that may not seem like much to a lot of you, but this brings me such happiness because when I first started blogging, this number was obviously at zero. During the first few months of A Beautyful Sentiment’s existence, I saw this number crawl from 0 to 8 to 21 and on and on. I was elated when I had 40 readers by Feedburner, and ecstatic when that number reached 100. The same with 200, then 300, then 400, and then the numbers just jumped from there. For me it’s been like watching my monstrous little creation take on a life of it’s own, and it’s been a great ride!

Thank you so so much to everybody who subscribes to me via e-mail or the million other methods that Feedburner allows! I truly do appreciate your taking the time to visit me and hope that you’ll be with me for years to come!

Which Reminds Me…

August 12, 2009

A wonderful reader of mine, Deb of The Vinyl Word and Other Musings, was thoughtful enough to nominate me for an Adorable Blog Award, and I feel terrible that it’s taken me this long to respond to her nomination! Thank you Deb!

Tag You’re It!

August 12, 2009
The gorgeous and talented Keely Valentine was sweet enough to tag me, and for once I’m remembering to post so here goes! The rules are:

  • Open your first picture folder.
  • Scroll down to the 10th photo.
  • Post that photo along with a story.

And here it is!

This photos was taken this past winter during my first trip to Atlantic City, which included free limos, food, drinks, hotel suites, and pretty much everything else – let’s just say it was a seriously amazing first AC experience! I took along one of my favorite LV pieces, a very limited edition Murakami for LV Pochette that has this darling panda on it, and was fiddling around with my camera and experimenting with close-ups. And being the incredibly accident-prone klutz that I am, out of the top you can see a little Tide pen poking out of the bag. Such fun memories!

I hope you enjoyed this little walk down memory lane with me!

Robot Love <3

August 4, 2009

Say hello to my new plushie friend! He arrived in a little brown box midday yesterday and it was love at first sight. He was ordered from Littlebrownbyrd’s Etsy shop where he was lovingly handcrafted, and now he’s perched atop a mountain of papers on my desk at work, brightening my day with his every button-eyed look. It’s amazing how something so small can bring so much happiness – I smile every time I glance over in this direction.

Unfortunately I’m a disaster with names and can’t think of the proper name for this little guy, so I’d love suggestions!

5 Things That’ve Been Keeping Me From You:

July 23, 2009

1) Shopping on Etsy. So many wonderful handcrafted goodies, so little time. I’ll be posting my picks in a bit!

2) Putting together my Sephora list. Lots of gift cards + 10% off = some major damage! I’m thinking a Clarisonic Plus, the new Givenchy Phenomen’eyes, maybe some Clarins skincare, and one of Urban Decay’s new primers.

3) Attempting to get back into shape. This isn’t going so well so I could definitely use some support =X. On the bright side, once I reach my goal weigh I’ll be treating myself to an iPhone, meaning I’ll finally be able to blog on the go!!

4) Playing around with Antidote Skin Care‘s self-tanner. I’ve never been one for fake baking, but I love this stuff!

5) Work! Believe it or not I actually do have a real job that requires my attention, although blogging is much much more fun =P.

Feeling Swamped

July 10, 2009

I’m feeling horribly guilty because I know I promised you oodles of reviews today, and then didn’t post a single thing! I haven’t forgotten, I’ve just been rather swamped with the million and one things piling up before me between yesterday and today and haven’t had the time to throw together anything even semi-coherent. But I promise I’ll be making time for you tonight, and you can expect a review of Josie Maran’s Argan Oil, an entry or two in my Mascara Series (long overdue I know!) and some other fun stuff.

In the meantime don’t forget to enter my MAC pro blush palette and Full Fuchsia blush giveaway! You’ll be sorry if you miss out =P.

Falsie Fun!

June 30, 2009

I know I’ve been terribly naughty, neglecting the blog the way that I have been, but I promise to be better! It’s not that I don’t love you ~ I literally just got home from the office a few minutes about and it’s almost 11 pm =X.

Is anyone watching the QVC beauty special that’s on tonight starting at 10pm? I heard that they’re going to have some amazing deals on some fabulous products. So sad I missed out on most of it already!

But back on topic, this is a quick and dirty look I did on Friday for a night out with friends. It’s a bit on the sloppy side, but I swear it looked pretty hot in person!

I was dying to try out the new falsies that my gorgeous friend Cathy had given me, so I picked up some DUO glue (my previous tube went bad and smelled like rotting fish) from Walgreens and went at it. I decided to try out the tinted/dark kind as I always end up making a mess with the clear kind, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I really love the tinted DUO glue.

The falsies are demis (a half strip) which I love since they don’t overwhelm the shape/size of my Asian eyes. I decided to keep everything else simple with some liner and silver shadow to really make the lashes pop, and I paired the eyes with my MAC lipstick in Calironia Dreamin’, which really can’t be beat when it comes to the perfect pale pink lippy to pair with a smokey eye.

And since tonight seems to be all about rambling incoherently (sorry for the terrible writing!) and bouncing from topic to topic, here’s a bottle of Mountain’s Dew’s World of Warcraft soda–it’s fruit punch flavored I believe! I’ll proudly to admit that I’ll drink pretty much anything blue, and the whole WoW aspect of it kinda appeals to me. I blame the SO who was obsessed with this game for the longest time!

A Few Birthday Photos!

May 21, 2009

This post is long overdue I know, but I finally have my camera back and so here are a few photos from little birthday sojourn to Boston this past weekend. I should warn you the photos are pretty terrible–they were taken late at night in a dimly lit hotel room with not an iota of natural light to be seen.

So first up is the long-awaited birthday gift reveal!! For those of you who were looking closely at the photo in this post, you’ll notice that she’s holding my gift in her lap :).

I don’t know about you, but I happen to love Louis Vuitton shopping bags. I still have almost every one that I’ve ever gotten. What can I say, I’m a compulsive hoarder!

And don’t even get me started on the boxes LOL. I’m 100x worse with those than I am with the bags. You should see how many Sephora boxes I have stacked up in my room!

And here she is in all her petite glory! My brand new Louis Vuitton Pochette Milla MM!!
(Sorry half the bag is hidden by blanket lol)

I fell in love with this bag because of all the cute detailing and hardware, particularly on the sides holding the chain onto the bag. Plus I’ve been wanting a cute clutch for what seems like forever–some nights I just need something to hold a little cash and ID. I hope you love my birthday gift as much as I do despite the terrible photos! And of course thank you to my SO for this amazing gift! Between this and the seriously hot metallic Chloe Paddington he got me for Christmas, I’m one happy girl!

Our hotel in Boston was sweet enough to send up champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries via room service after hearing it was my birthday–yum! So after polishing off our little snack, we headed out to dinner at a small restaurant called Hungry Mother (in Cambridge) that was seriously amazing–everything from the ambiance to the food and service was just spot on, and I’m dying to go back. If you’re in the Boston/Cambridge area I highly recommend checking it out, I loved it!

Here’s the makeup that I wore to dinner, plus some smudging thanks to hours of wear =P.

I decided to keep it really simple with just some Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero topped with lots of mascara. I started off with my much-used Fairy Drops (there’s a review on the blog under Mascara Series if you’re interested) and then built a little more length and volume using one of the mascaras in the Fresh mascara duo that I purchased (will be reviewing this soon).

And I forgot to mention that before dinner, SO and I took a stroll through the Boston Public Garden and I got to have some fun with my camera photographing all the gorgeous flowers. Between the dinner, presents, sight-seeing, amazing snacks and SO’s younger brother’s college graduation on Sunday (congrats!!!) it was a pretty action-packed weekend!

Goodbye Forever!

April 28, 2009

LOL I’m only kidding, but I will be leaving all you lovely readers for a week and a half as I travel to Korea w/my mom for some much needed mother/daughter time! I do so hate to leave you though! My flight leaves tomorrow morning, so I’ll be attempting to schedule some reviews and other stuff to auto-post periodically while I’m away so that you’re not too Jen-deprived. I’m also taking my laptop with me (if I could just find the darn adapter thing so that I can actually plug it in in Korea) so let’s hope that I can find some free WiFi~then I can at least check in every now and again.

Wish me luck on the flight as I absolutely detest flying, and I’ll be putting together a post of all the stuff I’ll be cramming into my makeup bag tonight so that you can all see what a packrat I am! Oh and I’ll be allowing the comments to auto-post (meaning no comment moderation) while I’m gone so that you can chat amongst yourselves–just promise to behave! 🙂 And I’ll be responding to comments whenever I can get internet access.

I’ll miss you all and I’ll be thinking of you while I’m shopping like a madwoman in Korea! ❤
