Philosophy Kiss Me Tonight Review & The Lip Slip Comparison I Know You Want!

September 21, 2009
Philosophy Kiss Me Tonight Intense Lip Therapy ($20)

This intense lip therapy keeps lips soft and in perfect kissable condition with an ultra-creamy formula. ‘kiss me tonight’ works on contact to soften roughness, relieve dryness and soothe seriously dry lips. This luxurious lip treatment helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, adds shape and definition and restores a healthy, rosy appearance.

Up until a year or two ago I never had issues with lip dryness, but it seems that as I get older my lips get dryer and dryer, and lately they’ve been crying out for a little pampering. Philosophy’s Kiss Me Tonight is the ideal product for those of you who are looking for soft, pouty, kissable lips without stickiness or tackiness, and while I wouldn’t call it an industrial strength lip salve, it’s pretty fantastic in its own right!

Check out more photos, the full review and my Sara Happ Lip Slip comparison after the jump!

Unlike Lip Slip which is really quite tacky and soft, Philosophy’s Kiss Me Tonight has a firm surface that you melt under your fingertips, and once glided across your lips, you’ll notice an immediate smoothing/line-blurring effect. My favorite way to use this is directly under a long-wearing lipstick for all-day hydration and color ~ my lips have never felt so comfortable in lipsticks!

So how is Kiss Me Tonight different from Lip Slip? Well here’s how I distinguish: Kiss Me Tonight is great for wearing under your daytime lip shades as it’s non-sticky, fabulous as an everyday daytime treatment, and my balm of choice on warmer days. Lip Slip, on the other hand, is my lips’ savior when colder weather rolls around and my lips are really in need of some TLC, and it’s my go-to product when I’m looking for an overnight treatment that will leave my lips looking and feeling incredible lush and soft the next morning.

I can’t recommend one over the other as the two products are quite different from each other, and I’m more than happy to now own both (thank you so much Elaine for sending this to me)! Stay tuned though as I’ve got a review coming your way of a lip moisturizer that I’m absolutely OBSESSED with and think you’ll all love too.

Philosophy Brings Us Instant Sunshine & Moonlight

August 13, 2009

Introducing a new approach to makeup – naturally derived, skin-loving formulas kept free of harmful ingredients.

Philosophy ‘the supernatural’ Instant Sunshine Natural Mineral Bronzer ($28)
Good-for-skin mineral-powder bronzer provides sheer, natural-looking, sunny color for a healthy sun-kissed glow.

Philosophy ‘the supernatural’ Moonlight Natural Illuminating Powder ($28)
Translucent illuminating powder instantly highlights your complexion, leaving behind a luminous finish.

I don’t wear much bronzer so the Instant Sunshine doesn’t much appeal to me, but I love the names of these products! As or the Moonlight Natural Illuminating Powder, well I’m intrigued. I absolutely love the soft, opalescent glow that that magical combination of dim lighting and just enough natural moonlight gives your face, and if this can achieve that effect, count me in!

Philosophy Purity Made Simple High Foaming Daily Cleanser Review

October 14, 2008
Philosophy Purity Made Simply High Foaming Daily Cleanser ($21.50 for 60z)

I’d been meaning to review Philosophy’s Purity Made Simple High Foaming Daily Cleanser for quite awhile now but for one reason or another had just never gotten around ot it, but thanks to some gentle prodding by a reader here it is!

So to be frank I still have approximately half of this sitting in my bathroom as I didn’t really like it all that much. Don’t get me wrong it it’s a nice, super gentle cleanser, but for me it just doesn’t do what it claims to do. Here’s the description from Sephora:

Philosophy Purity Made Simple High Foaming Daily Cleanser deep cleans, tones, and removes all makeup, including eye makeup, with a high-foaming formula that leaves skin feeling refreshed, never tight or dry. It’s enriched with botanical extracts to soften and soothe skin.

Now maybe I wear some heavy duty industrial-strength makeup, but this stuff really didn’t do the greatest job removing my makeup. After using it my face didn’t feel all that clean, and of course my eye makeup was all still on my face, just smudged around and no longer on my eyelids.

I will admit that the cleanser was softening and soothing. My skin felt nice post-wash and I did enjoy the fun-factor of dispensing the foam into my hand. This cleanser definitely worked better for me when I used it to wash off my SK-II Cleansing Oil, but as a stand-alone cleanser this just didn’t cut it.

Now I also happen to not be a fan of Philosophy’s original Purity cleanser, so if you happen to like the stuff please disregard everything I’ve said since I had essentially the same complaints! As always, this is just my opinion and really what do I know? =)

RATING: 3/5 (the packaging and dispensing mechanism I did like after all!)

Sephora Beauty Insiders: Philosophy Purity Made Simple High Foaming Daily Cleanser

August 18, 2008

I’m a big proponent of rewarding loyal customers, and Sephora recently (okay so not so recently, but recently compared to how long other companies have been doing it) jumped on the bandwagon with their Beauty Insiders program, which I’ve become a little obsessed with. I’m sure most of you know, but the program’s basic premise is that you sign up (for free of course) to be a Beauty Insider, accumulate points with every purchase and whenever your balance reaches 100 points (aka you spend $100), you get to choose a free deluxe sample! And of course you get access to some items that are exclusive to Beauty Insders.

I’m not even going to think of how many deluxe rewards I’ve received since that comes too close to thinking about how much I spend on cosmetics, but I have to say that this sample of Philosophy’s Purity foaming cleanser is one of my favorites, in large part because of its size dwarfs most of the other deluxe samples! I haven’t had a chance to use it yet but review to come shortly =)
