Bobbi Brown Limited Edition ‘Foundation Stick’ Compact

March 31, 2009
Bobbi Brown Limited Edition ‘Foundation Stick’ Compact ($22)

For the first time ever, Bobbi is offering her legendary Foundation Stick formula in compact form. These limited-edition compacts feature pans with clear protective covers and can be used individually or popped out and inserted into Bobbi’s customizable palettes. Compatible with Bobbi’s customizable pan palettes.

I recently decided to finally indulge in Bobbi Brown’s Face Palette (see my review and what I filled it with HERE) so that I could have easy access to some form of foundation on-the-go ~ and of course Bobbi Brown goes and releases this limited edition foundation stick compact! I shouldn’t want it but I do =X.

MAC Hello Kitty Tinted Lip Conditioner Swatches on Lips (Popster & Pink Fish)

February 9, 2009
MAC Hello Kitty Lip Conditioners in Popster (left) & Pink Fish (right) ($14.50)

Check out my Hello Kitty reviews and swatches HERE.

The packaging on these is so cute! I’ll definitely be taking Deb‘s suggestion and re-using these Hello Kitty printed tubs!

Popster & Pink Fish

While I must admit that MAC’s Hello Kitty collection has turned out to be quite the stunner, for me the stand-out items have been the tinted lip conditioners–they’re both very beautiful and amongst the most pigmented products in the entire collection. I’ll skip the color descriptions since you can check them out (along with reviews and swatches of all of Hello Kitty) in THIS POST but suffice it to say that you should definitely check these out!

MissTiss had inquired as to whether these have the same somewhat chemically taste (from the SPF) that the other TLC’s do, and unfortunately the answer is yes, but if you don’t mind the taste of these I highly recommend them.,

MAC Hello Kitty Review, Swatches & Haul!!! Plus Info On How To Get Yours Now!

February 6, 2009
Snuck a Quick Photo of the Display

My haul!!

Okay so 2/3 of this actually isn’t for me, but for a very special person who couldn’t make it herself to the MAC counter~~so I’ll be babysitting all her Hello Kitty stuff for her!

Hello Kitty Lipstick Swatches ($14)
Top Row: Big Bow, Fashion Mews, Strayin’
Bottom Row: Cute Ster, Fresh Brew, Most Popular

Reviews:

  • Big Bow: A sheer bright pink with fuchsia iridescence. I thought I’d love this one but I just wasn’t crazy about how the fuchsia iridescence looked on my lips so I passed on this one.
  • Fashion Mews: A somewhat sheer lavender shade (a lighter version of Lavender Whip from Cremesheen). I wanted to love this one but it was a bit of a disaster on me and I just couldn’t pull it off.
  • Strayin’: A beautifully-pigmented shade of bright pink. It’s probably the most pigmented lipstick of the bunch and definitely a Hello Kitty must-have!
  • Cute Ster: A sheer peachy pink with pearl which I loved! It’s definitely not the most pigmented lipstick, but it shimmers beautifully on the lips.
  • Fresh Brew: Fresh Brew is quite literally the shade of milky coffee and is probably my least favorite of the bunch.
  • Most Popular: A sheer deep berry that’s very pretty but nothing all that special.

Hello Kitty Lipglass Swatches ($14)
Top Row: She Loves Candy, Nice to Be Nice, Sweet Strawberry
Bottom Row: Fast Friends, Nice Kitty, Mimmy

Reviews:

  • She Loves Candy: A pale blue pink with gold pearl. While I tend to love glosses like this, I skipped this one as it was pretty invisible on me.
  • Nice to Be Nice: Bright coppery orange. I think you all know how I feel about oranges, so I didn’t even bother trying this one on.
  • Sweet Strawberry: Deep raspberry with blue pearl. Sweet Strawberry is y far the most pigmented gloss of the bunch and is really beautiful!
  • Fast Friends: Bright glittery purple in the tube, but a sheer fuchsia/pink once on.
  • Nice Kitty: Frightening neon pink in the tube, but a sheer bright pink with pink and blue pearl once on. My favorite gloss from Hello Kitty!
  • Mimmy: A pale creamy pink with pink and gold pearl. Mimmy is nothing mind-blowing but I loved the prettiness.

Hello Kitty Eyeshadow Palettes x4 ($38)
Top Row:
Lucky Tom Palette (Creme Royale, Paradisco, Stylin, Lucky Tom)
Bottom Row: Too Dolly Palette (Yogurt, Romping, Too Dolly, Stately Black)

Review: I wasn’t really crazy about either of the palettes, but if I had to go with one, I’d definitely go with Too Dolly. The shadows weren’t as intensely pigmented as I was expecting, plus they were a bit on the chalky side. The only shade I really loved was Romping.

Hello Kitty Tinted Lip Conditioners ($14.50)
Left to Right: Pink Fish, Popster

Reviews:

  • Pink Fish: A soft, somewhat milky pink that I really liked quite a bit.
  • Popster: A bright corally pink. I’d seen some lip photos of this on others and thought I’d love it, but it actually looked a little too bright and garish on me–go figure! I still kinda want it though.

Hello Kitty Beauty Powders and Beauty Powder Blushes
Top Row: Beauty Powders in Pretty Baby, Tahitian Sand
Bottom Row: Beauty Powder Blushes in Tippy and Fun & Games

Reviews:

  • Beauty Powders in Pretty Baby and Tahitian Sand: Pretty baby is a super super pale and sheer pink powder that was invisible on me. I swatched and swatched and couldn’t get it to show up! The same goes for Tahitian Sand, which is a sheer beige with hints of peach–it’s pretty much invisible. To me neither of these are worth the money.
  • Beauty Powder Blush in Tippy: A stunning midtone blue pink that I was sooo tempted to get but resisted. I feel like I may need to go back for this though!
  • Beauty Powder Blush in Fun & Games: A soft orangey peach that’s semi-matte, not all that pigmented and rather disappointing.

Hello Kitty Pigments & Reflects Glitters
Left to Right: Deep Blue Green, Reflects Blue, Reflects Very Pink, Milk

Reviews:

  • Reflects Glitters in Reflects Blue and Reflects Very Pink: Reflects Blue is mostly white glitter with hints of blue. Reflects Very Pink is is a rather blah shade of pink. Both aren’t all that smooth since these aren’t pigments but glitters.
  • Pigments in Deep Blue Green and Milk: Deep Blue Green is a rich deep bluish green that looks almost black under certai lighting, and forest green under others. Milk is a pale lavender shade with a nice smooth texture.

Unfortunately Saks won’t be carrying many of the accessories (such as the brush set), but they did have the cosmetics bags in stock and I ended up getting the mini. I know many of you have complained that these are pretty tiny, but I actually love the really small size since I hate big bulky makeup bags.

And I finally (literally just today) got some notification about Hello Kitty in the mail LOL!

So I promised you info on how to get your Hello Kitty now and here it is: order via telephone from Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC!! The Hello Kitty collection launches in NYC today, meaning you can have all this Hello Kitty wonderfulness shipped to your doorstep and have it before everyone else! Plus you won’t have to worry about pre-ordering or getting online to place your MAC order.

If you’re interested in ordering from Saks, call Lindsay Hymson at 212-940-2158. She’s super-sweet and helped me pick out all the stuff for my haul!

And Nicole just informed me that the collection is also currently up on the Nordstrom site, so definitely head on over and place your orders!

Now that you’ve seen the swatches, what will you be getting from Hello Kitty?

Expect to see photos of my haul on my lips within the next few days!

Too Faced’s Smurfette Collection Now Available Online!!

December 18, 2008

I used to love watching the Smurfs growing up, and of course Smurfette was my favorite. Too Faced’s Smurfette collection features smurfs, smurfs, and more smurfs–I’m loving how they pop against the black packaging! Will you be picking up anything?

So Smurfy Eyeshadow Collection ($32.50)
Too Faced So Smurfy Eye Shadow Collection contains four easy-to-use shades that can be used individually or together to create a signature Smurfette look. The velvety shadows glide on smoothly creating a seamless blend of gleaming color. Your pigment-drenched peepers will be left super Smurf-chic!

So Smurfy Illuminating Powder ($26)
Too Faced’s So Smurfy Illuminating Face Powder delivers complexion perfection. Smurfette’s signature color-correcting shades blend together for the prettiest perfection—you’re sure to be the hottest girl on your Smurf turf.

Mood Swing Emotionally Activated Gloss ($18.50)
An emotionally activated lip gloss that ranges from Smurf-blue shimmer to beautiful berry. Too Faced Smurfberry Mood Swing Emotionally Activated Lip Gloss allows you to wear your emotions on your lips. Depending on your body heat level, the gloss blooms into countless shades of Smurf-berry pink. You never know what shade you’ll get, but Smurfette thinks that’s part of the fun!

Smurfy-Eyed Liquid Liner ($17.50)
The Smurfette Collection Smurfy-Eyed Liquid Eyeliner lets you show off your Smurfette—inspired sparkles as you bat those eyes at every Smurf you see! You can use on the brows, hair, and anywhere else you want a special Smurf sparkle.

I happen to think everything is absolutely adorable, but with the way that I’ve been spending this month I don’t know if I’ll actually be getting anything. I’m leaning towards the illuminating powder and the gloss if anything, but we’ll have to see! And of course if I do get anything I’ll be reviewing it for you.

Bourjois Gloss Bijou Review and Swatches

November 29, 2008
Bourjois Gloss Bijou in Shade Rose Precieux

Bourjois’ limited edition Gloss Bijou is a weighty disco ball-esque pendant that contains a shimmering pink lipgloss with coral tinges enriched with light-reflecting micro-crystals.

The top half of the ball swivels outwards to reveal the shimmery gloss housed within. While not the most practical method of transporting gloss thanks to the fact that the pendant is solid metal and pretty ridiculously heavy, it is rather pretty! As for the pendant aspect of this, I’m not feeling so inclined to weigh my neck down with a heavy metal disco ball–but that’s just me! I would, however, pop the silk cord off this, replace it with a metal ball chain and you’ve got an instant keychain/bag charm with the added bonus of gloss inside.

And the gloss? Nothing to write home about. It’s a very attractive pinky coral shade that’s pretty much universally flattering, but its major detriment is that it has a slightly gritty texture thanks to all of the micro-glitter suspended in the gloss. Also, I’d say this has more of the consistency/finish of a shiny lipstick than a gloss.

Swatch of Bourjois’ Gloss Bijou

Overall I’d say that while this would make a nice holiday stocking stuffer (I can’t seem to find this online at the moment but I swear I saw it at Ulta for $16 or so), it’s not really something that I’d get for myself as it just isn’t all that practical. But that having been said I do love owning this for the pretty-factor and will be getting crafty with it. Stay tuned to see what I come up with!

Dior Vernis in Black Sequins 905: Review and Photos

October 30, 2008
Dior Vernis in Black Sequins ($19)

What it is: A black nail lacquer with silver flecks. Limited edition and only at Sephora!

What it does:
Dior Vernis in Black Sequins gives nails a celestial shimmer. The raven black lacquer contains silver flecks that make your nails looks like a starry night—they glitter. Dior’s fast-drying, diamond-hard, chip-resistant formula makes sure this limited-edition varnish lasts.

Close-Up of Dior Black Sequins

I hadn’t even noticed Dior’s Black Sequins up on the Sephora site until a couple of readers requested that review it if I had the chance, but since I’m always up for testing out pretty black nailpolishes I was only too happy to oblige! I checked multiple Sephora stores in the city and they were all sold out of this polish (so get on it if you want since it is limited!) so I had to resort to ordering online!

Black Sequins is a true black nail laquer with tons of tiny little silver flecks interspersed throughout. The effect really is like that of a starry night–well if starry nights were actually visible in my area. Since the flecks aren’t chunky at all the overall effect is subtle and definitely more eye-catching in brighter lighting than it is in a dim room, but all in all I love it! The finish isn’t completely smooth due to the glitter, but it’s absolutely and positively not the chunky glittery feeling you get from a lot of glitter polishes. While I don’t get much use out of my Chanel Black Satin, I know this will be gone before I know it!

As for the lasting power, well I’ve only had this on my nails for a night or so, but having been a fan of Dior polishes for well over 10 years I can attest to their great quality. They dry super quickly, have great shine, and best of all are the longest lasting polishes I’ve ever tried. I always manage to chip my manicures in a day or two with other polishes (Essie, Chanel, OPI, etc.) but my Dior polishes last and last.

Okay onto the photos! I did my nails last night in the dark so please excuse the stray marks and messiness (and the not so great photos). I’ll be fixing it up later today!

Click the photos to enlarge and check out the shimmer!

Like I mentioned above this polish is limited edition and seems to be selling out quickly so head on over to Sephora and check it out for yourself if you’re interested!
