Laura Mercier Grab Bags: A $300+ Value for Only $65!

July 9, 2009

I promise that come tomorrow you’ll be seeing many many product reviews but as of today there are just so many new releases and great deals that I need to tell you about, the most exciting of which is this Laura Mercier Employee Friends & Family Event Grab Bag thing that Nicole turned me onto.

The grab bags are available in the following three varieties:

Light & Fresh Grab Bag ($65)
Ideal for fair skin tones, Light & Fresh includes the following full-size items:

  • Margaux Eye Colour
  • Eye Book
  • Midnight Caviar Eye Liner

Dramatic Grab Bag ($65)
Ideal for deep skin tones, Dramatic includes the following full-size items:

  • Mauve Sunset Eye Colour Trio

  • Titanium Meallic Creme Eye Colour
  • Glamour Faux Eye Lashes
  • Bisque Eye Basics
  • Azalea Cheek Colour
  • Violet Lip Glace
  • Avant Garde Nail Lacquer
  • Nuit Enchantees Eau de Parfum
  • Chocolate Truffle Souffle Body Creme

My dilemma is that each set contains 2-4 items that I know I’d love to try, but I really have zero interest in the rest. I guess logically speaking, even purchasing those 2-4 items would cost me around $65, if not more, so I’m better off getting the set and then just giving away what I know won’t work for me, but I definitely feel like this is one of those moments when I’m buying something I never would’ve purchased otherwise, just because it’s a good deal, and for me that’s a big no-no. Temptation is so hard to resist!

Which set would you go with? I love the eye and lip colors from the last set, the apricot blush from the second set and the lips and eyes from the first. If only we could mix and match.

Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Bellini Review & Swatches

April 9, 2009
Laura Mercier Lip Glace ($22)

Laura Mercier’s Lip Glaces are sheer, high-shine glosses that can be worn alone or layered over lipsticks/stains to add a touch of luster to lips. They’re lightweight, non-sticky, have a delicious vanilla-y almond scent, and come packaged in a sleek roll-free rectangular tube.

The lip glaces are by no means opaque, but rather enhance your natural lip color by giving it that little extra oomph. Bellini is a shimmering peachy shade with golden shimmer that, while very subtle, is really something when it catches the light just-so. On the lips you don’t get too much of the actual peach, but you do get a hint of peachy gold shine that’s great for a beachy, sun-kissed summer look.

I’m of two minds on the Lip Glaces. While on the one hand I love that they’re non-sticky and have a great, smooth consistency, I do often find myself wishing that they had just a little more staying power and pigmentation. I wouldn’t say the Lip Glaces are my favorite glosses, but I definitely do like them!

Laura Mercier Gilded Garden Collection

March 5, 2009

Gilded Garden, the bold, new floral colour collection is Laura Mercier’s latest creation. The Gilded Garden Mosaic Shimmer Bloc softly illuminates cheeks with the perfect flush of rosy color, while a bouquet of four shimmery eye colours add a hint of glamour with gold accents. Lip Stains in Hibiscus and English Rose and Lip Colour – Stickgloss in Azalea and Tiger Lily add a pop of colour to the lips. The Limited Edition collection will have you looking fresh, floral, and beautifully-polished throughout Spring.

I’m really loving the look of LM’s Gildedn Garden Collection, and especially this Mosaic Shimmer Bloc which looks so feminine, fresh and summery~perfect for warmer weather. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to check this out soon!

Laura Mercier Lip Velvets: Swatches and Overview

September 26, 2008
Swatches (L to R)
Top Row: Cherry Blossom, Royal Plum, Cassis
Bottom Row: Mocha Rouge, Naked Rose

Laura Mercier’s Lip Velvets ($22) were released as part of her latest Cherries Noir collection, and consists of a series of five rich velvety glosses that skirt the border between lipstick and lipgloss.

The glosses which are applied with doe foot applicators are richly pigmented, velvety, moisturizing, and long-lasting. I was expecting something more akin to Dior’s Creme de Glosses, but trust me when I say these are much thicker and definitely way more pigmented. The shades are demi-matte, giving off the appearance of a rich and creamy lipstick, but with the convenience of a gloss.

As for me, while I love the thick and creamy formula (although it borders on being just a little bit too thick), I’m really not into earth tones and so the only two shades I would even consider wearing are Cherry Blossom and Royal Plum. Overall these are a little too pigmented for me (I never thought I’d utter those words), but if you’re looking for some gorgeous berry or earth-toned lip products these are definitely worth a shot.
