It’s Time For Show & Tell!

July 3, 2009

I spent some time tonight talking with the lovely Ana (who btw is finally back to blogging! check her out HERE), who I’ve discovered is not only gorgeous but amazingly patient and kind, and she inspired me to post some photos of the odds and ends I’ve made over the past few years. It doesn’t even compare to the amazing artwork that Ana creates, but I hope you have fun looking at it!

This is a freshwater pearl and Swarovski crystal necklace that has a little charm on front and a toggle closure that’s comprised of pearls and a crystal ball.

Two of my favorite bracelets that I’ve made although I rarely wear them. On top is a Swarovski crystal tennis bracelet, and underneath is this cool bracelet I saw at Henri Bendel’s and just had to have but wasn’t willing to pay the price for–so I just made it myself!

Close-ups of the two bracelets from above, minus the flash so you can see the detail better.

Pink pearl and black Swarovski crystal earrings. I happen to love these.

A Swarovski crystal stretchy bracelet I made the other night. I’m not crazy about it and will probably end up taking it apart and turning it into something else.

Close-up of the bracelet.

This ring is meant to go with the blue bracelet above–it was another piece I saw at Bendel’s, but it was priced at $65 or so which is just insane, so I made it myself :).

A bag charm I made way back. I’m actually thinking of using the crystals from the bracelet above and turning them into more of these cute little stars–then I can string 20 or so of them together and turn them into an amazing bag charm. I’ll post photos when I’m done!

Hello My Pretty!

I used to make cute little things for people all the time, but it seems that a large percentage of our populace no longer appreciates handmade gifts, and so I tend to reserve items like this for for special people who I feel that I know relatively well (so that I know they won’t just dump it in the trash! =D).

I spent last weekend making this little bag/phone charm for someone awesome-what do you think? I love shiny!

Latest La Mer Haul, Some Purple Yams and a Yam-Inspired FOTD

December 18, 2008

This post is basically a mish-mash of what I did this past weekend-I know I’ve been neglecting you! To start it all off, you can now follow me on Twitter!

FRIDAY: But onto more interesting things! My mother has a friend whose daughter works for Estee Lauder (corporate), and so as a one-time deal she picked up a bunch of products for us using her awesome 50% discount!! Look at all the great stuff we picked up!

The Haul:
~2 body creams
~1 radiant facial
~1 eye concentrate gift set
~1 lifting face serum
~1 2 oz. creme de la mer

Of course I’m seriously grateful to her will be reviewing many of the products for you! I’ve already started using the La Mer Body Creams and I LOVE!!!

SATURDAY: Had some absolutely stunning purple yams for breakfast. They’re a paler purple when raw, but steam them and you’re presented with this vivid, royal-purple hued tasty treat that’s simply delicious (and of course healthy).

Hung out with SO all day, then had a bit of a spat as I’d told him that I wouldn’t be going to his friend’s birthday thing that evening, yet somehow he’d conveniently failed to hear me. I got talked into going even though I looked horrendous (no makeup, hair in a bun, and the ugliest outfit ever), so we popped by Sephora for a quick makeover. I ended up wearing Urban Decay Deluxe Eyeshadow in Ransom, Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero, and Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips in Bambi (which I’ll be reviewing soon). I’m actualy not wearing any mascara since I hate mascara testers and I didn’t have any on me.

SUNDAY: Did my usual church thing, then did some work on these Swarovski crystal cell-phone charm crosses I”m making for my choir kids as their Christmas presents. Let’s hope they like them and my hours of slaving over tiny little beads isn’t for naught!

What did you do this weekend?

After spending a good chunk of this past week slaving away on this Swarovski crystal encrusted clutch (see it unfinished here), I finally finished just in time for my mother to tote it off to a wedding. So many days of sticky glue-covered fingers and dropped rhinestones went into this thing!

And check out the little ring that I made sitting on top of the clutch–isn’t it cute?

Wondering what I’m up to today?

October 1, 2008

1) Finishing up a little arts & crafts project for my mother. I’m a little over halfway done, and in a day or two this little monster will be encrusted with over 6,000 Swarovski rhinstones! I love DIY activities!

2) Making some beer battered shrimp with chipotle honey. This is probably the best beer-battered shrimp recipe out there, and my go-to batter on those rare occasions that I fry things at home. I pretty much quadruple the cayenne for a bit more kick, and end up with the most delicious fried shrimp known to man!

3) Responding to e-mails (sorry I’m a little behind!) and taking photos for new posts =).

What are you up to today?
