Testing Out the New Flip

December 30, 2009

I haven’t had the chance to put together any cosmetics-related videos using the Flip just yet, but I took a few seconds last night to play around with my new toy (one of my fab Christmas gifts) so you get a quick video of Chloe, our unofficial blog mascot!

A Little Chloe to Brighten Your Days…

October 13, 2009

Here’s a little Chloe to brighten your days the way that you’ve all brightened mine these past few weeks. Lately I’ve been receiving a spurt of e-mails about how much some of you have been loving the blog, and I know that I’m terrible about responding to these quickly but I just wanted you all to know that I really do appreciate each and ever one of these!

Plus I realized that it’s been much too long since I’ve posted a photo of my darling Chloe here on ABS ~ a lot of you have been asking about her, and here she is in all her adorable (but menacing) glory! Shower her with love and I’ll be sure to let her read through the comments.

I Know I’ve Been A Little Absent Lately…

April 16, 2009

…but I have a really good excuse! LOL okay so not really–to be completely honest I became obsessed with this Korean drama:

Roughly translated the name means “Boys Before Flowers” and while I’m usually pretty good about resisting the addictive allure of Korean dramas (c’mon you know you love them!), the SO somehow talked me into watching a few episodes of this online (you can stream it at www.mysoju.com) and it was all downhill from there. Suffice it to say that I watched all 25 episodes (they’re an hour each) in two days and didn’t get a wink of sleep.

All I can say is…Best. Drama. Ever!!! I hardly ever watch Korean shows since I usually do prefer things that are in English, but I’m so tempted to rewatch the whole series. LOVED it!

And to make up for my semi-MIA status these past few days, I give you a super cute photo of Chloe!

Forgive me? 🙂

Suffering From Those Pesky Mid-Week Blues?

March 4, 2009

Baby Chloe to the rescue! I snapped this photo of Chloe when she was just months old (and had black fur, which she no longer does), but it’s seriously one of my favorites and it makes me smile each and every time I look at it. My little monster had sunken her little teeth into this plush soccer ball and gotten them stuck. How adorable is that guilty look on her face?

Sick As A Dog!

February 19, 2009

Before the outpouring of concern ensues, no worries Chloe’s feeling fine! Well other than the fact that she managed to scratch her ear until it bled and is now sporting some anti-bacterial that she can’t seem to stop fussing with.

I, on the other hand, feel like I’ve been beaten with a stick! My whole body aches, I’m freezing and sweating at the same time, and I won’t even go into the stomach issues that I’m having. I may just have to call in sick tomorrow because I really don’t think I’m up for an hour + commute to work. Although that doesn’t mean I won’t be up all night working since I have deadlines to meet!

Had A Miserable Past Few Days?

February 2, 2009
I sure have! But when I’m in need of a pick-me-up, cute animals always lift my spirits–check out Chloe’s long-standing favorite YouTube video!

Exhausted!

January 24, 2009

Sorry I haven’t been around nearly as much as I usually am! Work has seriously been kicking my butt and I can barely muster up the energy to drag my sorry behind into bed these days, much less put together a barrage of post for you, my lovely readers! Hopefully next week will be better!

Chloe’s Tips for Staying Warm This Winter

January 18, 2009

TIP #1: Wear a scarf. Whether it’s mommy’s pink standby, or her ratty old gray scarf–anything will do! Still cold? Proceed to wear scarf on head and look sad and pitiful. Then on to Tip #2!

TIP #2: Sucker mommy into letting you wear her warm fuzzy earmuffs. Yes her favorites ones!

Oh and don’t forget to stick that tongue out to test the wind chill!

TIP #3: Should all else fail, crawl under a blanket and refuse to reemerge until spring has sprung. Demand to have your meals brought to you in bed. And of course, poke your nose out for extra cuteness!

How Was Your Christmas?

December 29, 2008
The adorable VooDoo Baby my brother got me.
(Thanks for the info Nicole!)

Scroll all the way down to see what my amazing SO got me!

Mine was fabulous! Seriously one of the best Christmases of my life! I got to cook a delicious meal for family, spend some quality time with all my loved ones, and I received tons of great stuff. What’d I get you ask? Well that little doll in the photo above was part of my brother’s gift to me, along with a Sephora gift card and some other great stuff. Most of my other gifts came in the form of cash (at this point in my life money always makes a great gift!); I got a coat and cashmere scarf from my mother, and the most amazing gift ever from SO! You can almost see it in the background in the photo above–you’ll just have to scroll all the way to find out what it is!

But since this is a beauty blog I guess we’ll get into my Christmas look first. I was wearing OPI’s Don’t Toy With Me layered over Little Red Wagon, but then I decided to go for a more subtle look and applied OPI Sheer Your Toys (picked this OPI holiday polish up for 50% off) topped with a coat of Glamour Game to get the look you see above. Check out a better photo of my nails below!

I wanted to go for a pinky/red and green-themed look but didn’t want anything too wild since my mom’s not a fan of loud eye makeup, so I ended up wearing MAC pigments in Gilded Green and Rose (click here to learn how to press your own pigments) topped with a little (messy) liner for a quick and festive look. And as you can see I’m wearing a TON of mascara!

Okay so onto SO’s Christmas present to me! We’d agreed not to exchange gifts this year and per our agreement we didn’t, but while we were shopping at Nordstrom the next day (12/26/08) we happened upon this gorgeous Chloe Paddington on sale. It was instant love for me but purchasing it was out of the question (the thing retails for $2,125!!!)–I have a major designer bag obsession but thanks to all my Christmas shopping I was flat broke. Out of the blue SO asks me if I’d like it; of course I just thought he was messing with me and brushed it off, but look what I came home with!

Isn’t she gorgeous? Now I have two Chloe’s to love and adore! Needless to say I won’t be receiving another gift from SO for a very very very long time but this gorgeous bag was well worth it!

How was your Christmas?

I have a million things I want to say to you my wonderful readers, but I’ll save that for my New Year’s Eve post since most of my sentiments are more fitting of an end-of-the-year post.

This blog has been such a blessing to me this year and the best gift that I could’ve asked for–it has really helped me through some tough times, so thank you so much to all of you who take the time to come visit and chat with me on a regular basis, I appreciate each and every one of you. You’ve made my first few months of blogging truly memorable!

For those of you who celebrate Christmas, it’s now past midnight where I am so Merry Merry Christmas from Chloe and A Beautyful Sentiment! I hope you awake to piles of presents under the tree-I just snuck downstairs to place a few presents under the tree for my parents and brother.

And as for everybody else–Happy Holidays!!! Keep warm, stay safe, and be sure to spend oodles of wonderful quality time with your loved ones!
