Bobbi Brown Limited Edition ‘Foundation Stick’ Compact

March 31, 2009
Bobbi Brown Limited Edition ‘Foundation Stick’ Compact ($22)

For the first time ever, Bobbi is offering her legendary Foundation Stick formula in compact form. These limited-edition compacts feature pans with clear protective covers and can be used individually or popped out and inserted into Bobbi’s customizable palettes. Compatible with Bobbi’s customizable pan palettes.

I recently decided to finally indulge in Bobbi Brown’s Face Palette (see my review and what I filled it with HERE) so that I could have easy access to some form of foundation on-the-go ~ and of course Bobbi Brown goes and releases this limited edition foundation stick compact! I shouldn’t want it but I do =X.

Why do good deals only seem to come when I’m trying not to spend? Bobbi Brown is having a site-wide sale of 25% on all items, and you all know that I’ve been dying to check out her latest Skin Foundation and the Brights Palette. Plus I’ve recently discovered that I absolutely love her Lip Tins–good thing I can’t seem to find them on her site.

What will you be getting?

Handy Dandy Bobbi Brown Face Palette Review

February 24, 2009
Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Face Palette ($15)

Perfect for taking your makeup favorites on-the-go. This sleek, portable black case allows you to customize your own color kit of Lip Color, Lip Shimmer, Cream Blush Stick, or Foundation Stick. Holds up to six shades. A blank base label allows you to record your makeup shades. (Cosmetics sold separately.)

Palette closed-check out how slim it is!

I first discovered this palette on the Neiman Marcus site a few years back, decided I just had to have it for those makeup emergency days (when you’re out, have something you need to go to and realize you have no makeup on you), and then forgot all about it–nothing new for me!

Fill-in-the-blank labels on the bottom.

But while shopping around the other day I rediscovered this petite little box of potential goodness and of course picked one up for myself that very same day. While it may seem silly to pay $15 for what’s essentially an empty compact, the idea of being able to fill up a slim compact with all of the day’s necessities really appeals to me, so for me it was worth it. Imagine having the day’s foundation, blush, lipstick, and cream eyeshadow, all in one little package that can be discretely slipped into an purse, clutch, or pocket–you could probably even fit this into a decent-sized wallet!

Top Row: Etude House Pore Erasing Peach Base, Max Studio Pan Stick, Smashbox Tokidoki stick
Bottom Row: YSL Rouge Voluptes (scooped out of these samples)

I used the included spatula to scoop in the Etude House primer, then used a piece of dental floss to slice off pieces of the rest of the products to place in the compact. I then pressed down on the products with a napkin to achieve a nice, relatively smooth finish and voila, face in a compact! Now if I can just remember to carry this around with me, I know that I’ll get tons of use out of it.

25% Off Bobbi Brown Holiday Collection

Now through January 3, 2009 get 25% off plus free standard shipping on all of Bobbi Brown’s Holiday Collection! The discount is applied automatically, no codes necessary, so get shopping and pick up some great holiday palettes! I’ve got my eye on:

Bobbi Brown Night Sky Long-Wear Eye Palette ($41.25 after the 25% off)
I’m a huge fan of Bobbi Brown’s gel liners, and this great travel palette contains two liners, two cream shadows, plus a double ended brush. It’s a bit hard to travel with the BB gel liners and a brush, and so this palette would definitely make my life easier.

Bobbi Brown Moon Rock Long-Wear Eye Palette ($41.25 after 25% off)

Copper Diamond Cosmetic Bag with Brushes ($48.75 after the 25%)
I only own one Bobbi Brown brush (the Ultra Fine Eyeliner brush) but the quality is fabulous and I’ve heard such great things about BB’s other brushes that this mini-brush set is seriously tempting me. I wonder if the quality is like that of the MAC mini brush sets though–as in not nearly as good as the full-sized ones.

Bobbi Brown in Mauve at the Fall 2008 Runway Shows

For some reason I’ve never really gotten into Bobbi Brown-I think something about their utilitarian packaging just doesn’t appeal to my inner girly-girl. But I must admit that the line’s Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner is absolutely fabulous. It’s long-wearing, pretty smudge-proof, and most importantly, easy for clumsy-old-me to apply. It’s one of the few liners that works with my super-greasy eyelids, and as such it’s a staple in my cosmetics bag.

This season’s variation on the classic, Black Mauve Shimmer Ink, sounds promising. It’s a black mauve (I’m not even sure what that means!) infused with bronze and gold pearl pigments. Sounds like a shimmery liner to me-right up my alley! I will most definitely be checking this out in person at some point.

And of course Bobbi Brown’s seasonal face palette, this time in shades of lovely mauve. I’m not much of a mauve girl myself so I’ll be admiring this release from afar, but those that love a neutral/natural look this would be a great choice. The model looks very natural yet polished-a great look for any professional working woman.
