My Free Bare Escentuals Matte Samples Are Here!

August 16, 2009

Remember that great promotion I told you about a little over a week ago with the three free bareMinerals by Bare Escentuals Matte formula samples and mini brushes? Well after what feels like forever, my samples finally arrived yesterday. I’ll be reviewing them for you in full at some point, but I did give them a quick test-run yesterday and no itching/irritation so far (unlike the origina formula), so so far so good!

How cute is the BE padded envelope these came in?

I’ll definitely be flipping through my catalog to see if there are any other items that capture my attention. And if I end up loving the matte formula, I may end up using the coupon code included with it get a free Baby Buki brush with my purchase of the full-size (although I do already have a BE baby buki lying around somewhere).

Try Bare Escentuals’ New Matte Formula For Only $1!

August 4, 2009
Bare Escentuals is offering a 10-day supply of their BareMinerals Matte SPF 15 Foundation + Mini-buki Brush for FREE!! You can order up to 3 samples, as long as they are all different shades. Shipping is only $1 (plus tax it seems since I paid $1.07 or so) for all 3 samples. Click HERE to check out this offer!

The original bareMinerals formula wreaks havoc on my skin – it makes me feel dry and itchy while making my face oilier in the long run, and by the end of the day I usually have a new crop of breakouts, and if I’m lucky, even a few hives to boot. So yes I’m crazy for for wanting to try this, but I’ve heard such wonderful things about the new matte formula that I’m willing to give it a shot. Thanks to Nicole for telling me about this!

I forgot to mention that you won’t see the $1 shipping applied until the very end, so don’t let the shipping price at the outset of checkout stop you from getting this. The $1 will show up, I promise!

Bare Escentuals Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick + Lip Shot

July 28, 2009
Bare Escentuals Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick ($18)
Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick works three full-time jobs—it defines the shape of lips like a liner, fills them in with creamy velvet color, and then plumps them to their full buxom potential. It’s a three-in-one lipstick that’s quick and convenient for defined, colorful, buxom lips anytime, anywhere.

Swatches (left to right): Brooklyn, Las Vegas, Monte Carlo

After having viewed this online I figured Bare Escentuals’ Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick would be an emaciated looking skinny little thing, so imagine my surprise when I was greeted by the sight of this big, fat, pencil the size of a small Sharpie! Sadly my Sephora only had these three shades in stock, but other than Milan these look to be the prettiest of the bunch so I guess I’ll survive.

  • Brooklyn is a harvest fig shade – a mauvey berry color with slight brown undertones. Not my usual type of shade and probably not something I’d purchase.
  • Las Vegas is my favorite of the bunch – a vibrant, milky medium pink that’s totally me.
  • Monte Carlo is a bright, hot magenta that’s much brighter than the lippies I’d usually go for, but the shade has such a beautiful clearness to it, if that makes any sense, that I actually found myself drawn to it. A seriously gorgeous hot pink!

Lip Swatch of Las Vegas

So the verdict? I’m absolutely loving these BE Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Sticks – they’re like fun, creamy crayons for your lips! They’re pigmented, long-lasting and provide some gorgeous color pay-off, plus they also create this fun minty/tingling sensation (I guess that’s the plumping part) on your lips akin to that of BE’s Buxom Glosses. The Big & Healthy pencils are semi-matte since they are meant to be usable as both lipstick and lipliner, so they’re gorgeous either worn on their own or coupled with a glossy lipstick or a gloss. The retractable pencil packaging makes these easy to travel with and great for touch-ups, and I’m thinking Las Vegas would make a great addition to my lippie collection!

Have you tried BE’s Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Sticks for yourself? Any thoughts?

Bare Escentuals Buxom Insider Eyeliner Review & Swatches

July 28, 2009
Bare Escentuals Buxom Insider Liner ($14)
Buxom Insider Eyeliner delivers rich, long-wearing color that’s so gentle you can apply it to the inner rims of your eyes for the deepest, most dramatic definition. The silky, emollient formula contains a healthy blend of antioxidants and vitamins to protect the delicate skin along your lash line from environmental damage. It can also be applied along the outer lash line for the maximum effect and glides on without tugging or irritating your eyes.

Swatches (left to right): Onyx, Topaz, Sapphire, Amethyst

See my post on all the new Buxom goodies HERE!

I’ve never been much of a Bare Escentuals fan, but their Buxom line of products is quickly reeling me in. First with the Diamond Lips set (review and lip shots HERE) and now with this whole new range of Buxom goodies! I was thrilled to see that my local Sephora had a mini Buxom display up front and of course I played around with some of the new products so that I could report back to you.

When I went to swipe the Insider Eyeliner in Onyx along my hand, I was seriously shocked by how smooth and pigmented it was. These liners have almost a gel-like glide to them and the pigmentation is rich and intense. They also have really great lasting power – liners usually melt away and disappear on my within the span of 2-3 hours, but on my waterline this lasted all day with only minimal fading.

Photo of Amethyst at the end of the day.

I think that these make a great alternative to Urban Decay’s 24/7 liners, especially as they’re fabulously priced at only $14 and are twist up, meaning no sharpening. I just ordered a ton of mini eyeliners from Urban Decay thanks to their sale, but I definitely foresee adding one or two of these to my collection.

One caveat though – these are pretty soft and when I was playing with the tester at Sephora the top 1 centimeter or so broke right off the pencil and fell on the floor. Such a tragedy!

Be a Buxom Babe with Bare Escentuals

July 22, 2009

It looks as though Bare Escentuals has taken the Buxom line and run with it – first we had glosses (which are fabulous by the way), then the Buxom Mascara, and now they’re inundated us with a plethora of new Buxom goodies!

Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick ($18)
Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick works three full-time jobs—it defines the shape of lips like a liner, fills them in with creamy velvet color, and then plumps them to their full buxom potential. It’s a three-in-one lipstick that’s quick and convenient for defined, colorful, buxom lips anytime, anywhere.

Buxom Lashliner ($15)
Lash addicts beware: Buxom Lashliner is highly habit-forming. This may look like just a liner, but it’s also a thickening and conditioning treatment that instantly takes the appearance of your lashes from hardly any to very many. The mineral-rich, paraben-free gel formula is made with natural ingredients, including vitamins A, C, and E; Honeysuckle; Jojoba Oil; Soy Protein; Tourmaline; and Biotin (vitamin B), which support healthy lashes. In one fluid stroke, you can fill in the base of your lashes—making them appear lusciously longer and fuller.

I don’t really see how a gel liner can be anything more than a gel liner, but I’m willing to give this a shot — you know I’m all about the lashes!

Buxom Lashliner Brush ($15)
From the moment it meets your lash base, the ultrafine, tapered point of this sexy, silver Lashliner Brush delivers a graphically precise line of Buxom Lashliner that gives your eyes a heavy dose of drama. Applying Buxom Lashliner with this easy-to-use tool enables your lashes to reach their full buxom potential, starting from the roots. Dip into Buxom Lashliner and apply along roots of lashes for instant conditioning benefits, lash enhancement, and long-term nourishing effects for lusciously longer, fuller-looking lashes

I’m liking the look of the ultra-fine tip on this brush, but I do find myself wishing this had a bent/angled tip to make for easier lining.

Buxom Insider Eyeliner ($14)
Buxom Insider Eyeliner delivers rich, long-wearing color that’s so gentle you can apply it to the inner rims of your eyes for the deepest, most dramatic definition. The silky, emollient formula contains a healthy blend of antioxidants and vitamins to protect the delicate skin along your lash line from environmental damage. It can also be applied along the outer lash line for the maximum effect and glides on without tugging or irritating your eyes.

I can’t speak for the quality of these products as they just launched online and I have yet to see them in stores, but I am pretty happy with the overall $14-18 price points on these. Definitely wallet-friendly!

Bare Escentuals Buxom Babes Flower Girls

March 25, 2009
Bare Escentuals Buxom Babes Flower Girls ($28)
Bare Escentuals Buxom Babes Flower Girls are four floral-inspired pout perfecters infused with 100% pure bareMinerals to naturally create the look of fuller lips. Its tingly, cooling sensation reminds you that your lips are looking fuller, while a deep infusion of antioxidant vitamins A and E keeps them soft and protected. With luminous high shine in the most lucid pastels, it’s a lovely garden party for your lips that will leave your lips blossoming with sheer femininity. All-natural, collagen-boosting ceramide helps repair damaged lip tissue and enables new collagen production.

Flower Girls includes:

  • Rosie (ballerina pink)
  • Lily (pink lavender)
  • Iris (sheer periwinkle)
  • Poppy (carnation pink)

I normally wouldn’t look twice at an oddly-hued gloss collection like this one (I’ve never once contemplated wearing periwinkle on my lips), but I don’t know whether it’s the fact that I’m totally feeling all things springy at the moment, or the fact that I loved Bare Escentuals’ Buxom Babes Diamond Lips so much, but I’m actually contemplating purchasing this set. I know that they’re all going to be ridiculously sheer and pretty much variation on clear, but the colors are so pretty to look at!

Mascara Series Part 21: Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash Mascara Review & Photos

February 25, 2009
Bare Escentuals Buxom Lash Mascara ($18)

The Claim: Bare Escentuals’ Buxom Lash promises to volumize lashes up to 300%. Buxom® Lash Mascara – Blackest Black holds the style of your lashes for a continuous 12 hours with no flakiness. The silky, vitamin-rich formula darkens, lengthens, and thickens from root to tip without ever clumping. Its patented, hourglass-shaped brush is designed to lift and separate every lash while delivering the perfect amount of antioxidant-rich mascara needed for bigger, fuller lashes. It’s formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, and phthalates.

The Brush: While the brush isn’t ideal for my eye size and shape (tiny and squinty =X), I happen to really like it, in large part because it’s just so pretty! The bristles lift and separate rather decently and create nice volume (I wouldn’t say 300%, but still not bad at all) but the largeness of the hourglass brush can make it a bit cumbersome to work with, making for messy smudges along the upper lash line.

The Formula:
I love that Buxom Lash is parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, and phthalates-free. I really don’t think nearly enough about what I’m putting on my face and very close to my eyeballs, and I really should considering that I spend a good chunk of my days covered in this stuff! But all that stuff aside, Buxom Lash really has quite the beautiful formula. First of all the black is a lush, rich shade of black, not that weak, wishy-washy black that so many black mascaras are nowadays. It’s also relatively clump and smudge free (I do experience some minor smudging when I go heavy on the eye cream), never flakes, and is non-irritating.

But does it actually work well? Well Buxom Lash’s formula definitely gives me really nice volume and it actually holds a tiny bit of a curl on my lashes, but it’s only mediocre in the length department. I do love the winged-out look that it gives me lashes though–very pretty! It applies smoothly and evenly, coating each lash nicely, and you’ll never ever get spindly tarantula leg lashes with this one!

The Verdict: I saw a girl applying Buxom Lash on the A train yesterday, and from what I could see this gave her nice curl, definition, and volume, but like me, nothing amazing in terms of length. That’s not to say you can’t build some really nice length with this, but I just don’t have the patience to do that these days! Overall though I’d recommend this mascara–it’s relatively inexpensive for a high-end mascara is a good, solid all-around mascara that doesn’t promise more than it can deliver.

RATING: 3.5/5

Bare Escentuals Buxom Babes Diamond Lips Review & Swatches

February 24, 2009
Bare Escentuals Buxom Babes Diamond Lips ($28)
Bare Escentuals Buxom Babes Diamond Lips creates the look of fuller lips with 100% pure bareMinerals. Your lips will instantly develop a faux fullness, while a deep infusion of antioxidant vitamins A and E will keep lips soft, smooth, and protected. With a sheer tint and a diamond glisten, it’s as good for your lips as it is gorgeous.

Top to Bottom: April, Starr, Celeste, Clair

Close-up of April and Starr.

Close-up of Celeste and Clair.

April (soft pink)

I put off purchasing Bare Escentuals’ Buxom Babes Diamond Lips set for the longest time, but after purchasing it I couldn’t for the life of me think why~~it’s that good! The colors are gorgeous, the formula is fabulous, and the shimmer will rock your world. I know that this post is long overdue and this set has been out for ages, bu I just couldn’t go without reviewing it for those of you haven’t purchased it yet!

Starr (sheer raspberry)

Surprisingly, Celeste, which I’d expected to be my favorite, is actually the gloss I use least out of the four. It tends to be a little frosty looking under certain lighting conditions, and if there’s one thing I dislike in a lippie, it’s frostiness. My faves are Starr and Clair, which I’d actually anticipated not liking–surprise susprise! I’ve been contemplating a full-sized version of Clair, it’s that gorgeous! It’s just the perfect demure pinky mauve that’s understated yet defnitely noticeable.

Celeste (super shimmery peachy nude)
Clair (moonlit mauve)

The formula is another rave from my end. It’s not too sticky, yet clings tenaciously to your lips for hours on end. I wouldn’t say it’s much of a plumper, but it does impart a pleasant tingly/cooling sensation that I really do enjoy. This set really is love for me! Run out and get this set while they’re still in stock!

Bare Escentuals ‘Buxom Babes – Diamond Lips’ Collection Swatches

October 13, 2008
Bare Escentuals® ‘Buxom Babes – Diamond Lips’ Collection ($28)

Swatches (L to R): April (pink kiss), Star (raspberry ice), Clair (moonlit mauve), and Celeste (soft peach)

This sparkling collection of pout perfection will leave your lips the same as their name: curvaceous, voluptuous and dripping in diamonds. Infused with 100% pure bareMinerals®, Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish naturally creates the look of fuller lips. The tingly and cooling sensation reminds you that your lips are looking fuller, while a deep infusion of antioxidant vitamins A and E helps keep lips soft, smooth and protected. With a luminous diamond glisten and sheer color, it’s as good for your lips as it is gorgeous.

While I’m not too fond of Bare Escentuals’ mineral foundation, their Buxom Big & Health Lip Polishes are pretty good stuff! These have a diamond-like dazzle to them, and with four easy to wear shades what’s not to love? These would make the perfect stocking stuff for that special somebody (*ahem* me!!)!
