Beautyblender ($19.95)
What it is: A makeup sponge applicator. Technique is everything when it comes to creating a camera-ready, flawless look. So imagine all the prettifying possibilities you’d score if a makeup artist’s skills were wrapped up in one innovative tool. Meet your new makeup must-have: beautyblender® —the makeup sponge designed to create absolute complexion perfection. This award-winning, hot pink number gives you amazing coverage and blending capabilities with its easy-to-use shape and suede-like texture. Use the wide end to blot on makeup and blend effortlessly. Or, work with the pointed end for hard-to-reach spots or delicate areas around the eyes. There’s no foundation line or eyeshadow crease that can hide from the beautyblender sponge’s super-blending powers. Get ready to absorb the benefits.

What it does: beautyblender® is the first ergonomically designed non-disposable sponge applicator that allows you to flawlessly apply your makeup. It’s designed to be cleaned with its partner blendercleanser®—making it super eco-friendly. It comes with an instruction disc so you can quickly master your application technique.

While having dinner with my friend Cathy tonight our conversation happened to land upon the beautyblender, touted as THE tool for creating a flawless, air-brushed finish by makeup fanatics. Since she’d never heard of it I figured I’d pop in this little post with some info in case she decides she wants to check it out!

I’ve had my eye on this bouncy little pink egg for ages but could never bring myself to spend $20 on a glorified makeup sponge. Enter my brother with a Sephora gift card and the fact that Sephora finally started carrying this line–guess who’ll be owning a beautyblender of her own very soon?

I blogged about a cheaper alternative to the beautyblender available via Target (by Sonia Kashuk), but since I have the gift card I figure I’ll go for the original and see what I think. Have you tried this for yourself? What are your thoughts?
