Kanebo’s New(ish) Sensai Foundation Series Overview

October 13, 2008

Kanebo’s new Sensai Foundation Series (launched August 2008) could quite possibly be one of my favorite releases of the year. Yes there are no fancy eyeshadow palettes, nor are there any cute pink lippies for me to play with, but what Kanebo does it does extraordinarily well, and these new offerings just have me excited! This new collection consists of 9 items which contain an array of fantastic ingredients, and I’ve heard nothing but fabulous reviews of the entire line which ranges from concealers (a favorite of Temptalia’s) to primers (which you know I’ve been dying to try) to foundations (which I’ve heard are absolutely amazing as well).

Smoothing Water Make-Up Base ($45)

The Sensai “Saho” technique of skincare and makeup begins by creating a delicate veil of moisture with the Smoothing Water Makeup Base, which contains Fuji Sensui water (extracted from Japan’s most sacred mountain, Mt. Fuji) and precious Koishimaru Silk Extract, which was once reserved solely for the Imperial Family of Japan.

The formulation contains Pure Moist Smoother (a special ingredient prepared from cellulose) which once applied spreads rapidly over the skin, wrapping the surface in a tight membrane. This creates a smooth, taut, invisible veil that leaves the skin firmer, smoother, and more elastic. 30 minutes after application of the Smoothing Water Makeup Base the moisture content in the tested area rose by more than 400%!!

The Brush Type Concealer ($33)

Kanebos’Concealer, featured everywhere from the Cannes Film Festival to “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and loved by beauty bloggers is designed to flawlessly cover fine lines, under-eye circles, blemishes and discoloration while moisturizing and firming the skin. It’s enriched with KanzoExtract (a traditional medicinal herb taken from the root of the licorice plant and used to soothe blemishes and help prevent irritation), Moistened Powder (a powder pre-moistened and coated with oil that helps to retain the natural oil in the skin), Silk Extract (prevent moisture loss and allows for a smoother application), Weightless Glow Factor (a feather-like powder with thin, flat granules which provide smoother coverage and which causes light to reflect evenly off your face), and the exclusive Koishimaru Silk Extract (which provides superior moisturizing to the skin).

For further information on these products check out Kanebo’s international site (unfortunately these products are rather hard to track down online) or visit your local Saks counter. Or if you happen to be located in NY, you can also stop by Bergdorf, Barney’s, or Takashimaya to check out a wide array of Kanebo goodies!
